Softball Falls to Cowgirls

Softball Falls to Cowgirls

(May 13, 2022) Piedmont, Oklahoma - Coming off a win last night over Rose State, the Bucks looked to keep the momentum going against Connors State in the winners bracket semi-finals at F&M Bank Stadium on the campus of Piedmont High School. Connors State beat Northeastern Oklahoma A&M yesterday.

Caitlyn Mayo (Bigelow, AR) got the start for the Bucks in the circle. She would give up a run in top of the first, but the Bucks answered with a run of their own in the bottom half. Jah'Kaiya Woods (Little Rock, AR) led off with a triple. After an out, Madelynn Lacaze (Gladewater, TX) hit a RBI single to right field to tie the game at 1-1 after an inning. However, the tie would be short lived as the Cowgirls scored 4 runs in the top of the second to take a 5-1 lead.

The Bucks got a run back in the bottom of the third. Madelynn Lacaze doubled before Presleigh Payne (Graprevine, TX) would do the same to make it 5-2, but this would be the Bucks last offensive production of the game. Between Mayo and Brookelyn Coffey (Sims, AR), Connors State scored 9 runs in the fourth and 5th innings to run-rule the Bucks, 14-2 in five innings.

Caitlyn Mayo (11-11) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up 8 runs (6 earned). She would strike out 3 and walk 4 in the outing. Coffey pitched an inning in relief.

The Bucks now play again tomorrow morning at 11 am against Western Oklahoma State.
