Lacaze Homer Lifts Bucks over Rose State; Advance in Region II Tournament

(May 12, 2022) Piedmont, Oklahoma - It's been a week since the Bucks have played a game, but it's Region Tournament time and anything can happen. The Bucks faced a familiar foe in the Rose State Raiders. In the season, both teams split the 4-game series.

Blaire Gentry (Lockesburg, AR) got the start in the cirlce for the Bucks. She would put up a pair of zeros on the board in the first and second innings, stranding the bases loaded in the second with a strikeout. The Bucks got the offense going in the top of the third inning. Kristen McMillan (Winnsboro, TX) got things started with a double to lead off the inning. After 2 outs, Jah'Kaiya Woods (Little Rock, AR) singled up the middle to plate McMillan. Woods stole second and third before scoring on a Abi West (Ida, AR) RBI double that made it 2-0.

In the bottom half, Gentry once again left runners on the bases, but she would give up a run in the bottom of the fourth inning that cut the lead to 2-1. The Raiders took the lead on a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth, but the lead was short lived. After a lead off walk by West, Madelynn Lacaze (Gladewater, TX) hit a 2-run bomb over the center field fence to give the Bucks the 4-3 lead.

Gentry put up another pair of zeros to send the game to the seventh inning. The Bucks went down in order, and the Bucks needed 3 outs to end the game. With a runner on and 2 outs, Jah'Kaiya Woods made a diving catch on a line drive to end the game!

Blaire Gentry (15-9) pitched a complete game (7.0 innings), giving up 3 runs on 8 hits. She would strike out a pair and walk 3 in the win.

The Bucks play again tomorrow at 4 pm against Connors State College at Piedmont High School.
