Bucks Drop Home Opener

(April 3, 2021) Mena, Arkansas – The first official college soccer match at Tapley Park took place on the Bucks new pitch this afternoon. The Bucks played host to Region 5's Ranger Junior College.

The first half was a game of missed opportunities for the Bucks. Ranger scored a goal in the first 2 minutes of the match off a Bucks deflection. After the goal, the Bucks would control most of the half. At the 13 minute mark, the Bucks missed on a free kick that resulted in a hand ball in the box. Up until the 30th minute, the Bucks would keep pressure and control the ball. Late in the half, Ranger made a push and missed on a few shots that missed the frame. Jamie Watt (Arbroath, Scotland) made some key saves in the half to keep the score 1-0 in favor of Ranger.

Ranger controlled the 2nd half of the match. The Bucks made a run in the 50th minute but missed their opportunity and allowed Ranger to counter. For the next 15 minutes, Ranger had missed opportunities. A great defensive save by Ross Wilson (Wishaw, Scotland) ended a run. However, in the 68th, Ranger would put another goal in the back of the net to increase the lead to 2-0.

In the next 10 minutes, the Bucks started to take control, but attacks were unsuccessful.  In the final minute of the game, Ranger added a 3rd goal to win 3-0.

In the match, the Bucks got off 8 shots, but only 1 were on goal. The Bucks had 2 corners, and Jamie Watt recorded a save on the weekend. 

The loss puts the Bucks record at 0-1-0 on the season.
