Bucks Fall at Home to #4 Trojans

(September 17, 2023) Mena, Arkansas - Coming off a long road trip and a loss on Wednesday, the ladies have some tough opponents ahead of them in region play. They started this afternoon with 4th ranked Seminole State College. The Trojans have been to the last four national tournaments with just as many region championships.

Seminole State was on the front foot from the first minute of the game combining with many passes resulting in numerous entries into the UARM defensive third. The Trojans dominated much of the first half showing why they were undefeated this season so far. Carla Todd (Lochgilphead, United Kingdom) and Jasmin Nielsen (Aabybro, Denmark) worked tirelessly up front for UARM trying to break free from the stranglehold the Seminole State players had on the game but the ball kept coming back resulting in 6 first half goals for Seminole.

The Bucks changed to a more organized defensive counter attacking system in the 2nd half, and the turn around was huge. UARM began to frustrate Seminole with their offensive play, and even created scoring opportunities for themselves. The second half only resulted in two goals for Seminole, and UARM managed to get the goal they richly deserved. A long free kick from Carla Todd sailed over the goalkeeper from 40 yards out.

After a better second half, Coach Sherry was happy with the better play. "Seminole State have all the advantages open to them and are the flag bearers of the region as a result. They are setting us a bench mark, which we need to work towards as we move forward in the future. Our ladies worked so hard and bought into the plan in the second half which is a great foundation for us moving forward."
