Bucks Pick-Up First Win of Season

Bucks Pick-Up First Win of Season

(August 31, 2022) El Reno, Oklahoma - With the fall semester underway, the Bucks were looking for routine in their season and their first win of the season. The Bucks came into today's match with Redlands Community College 0-2-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in Region II.

The Bucks started the half and took an early 1-0 lead in the match in the 16th minute on a goal by sophomore Kenya Martinez (De Queen, AR). Kathryn Cameron (Stephenville, TX) played a flat ball from the right side to the front post where Martinez found the back of the net. Neither team scored for the remainder of the half, but the Bucks were able to fire 13 shots and landed 8 on target. Defensively, the ladies held to Cougars to 1 shot on goal that sophomore goalkeeper Melanie Glossup (Allen, TX) saved to make it 1-0 at the half. The Bucks also recorded 6 corner kicks in the half.

In the second half, the Bucks seemed to run out of gas, and only had 5 shots in the half, with 1 being on frame and 0 corner kicks. The one goal on frame ended in a goal by Morgan Johnson (Rowlett, TX), assisted by Jess Douglas (Gateshead, England) in the 83rd minute of the match. The Bucks were busier defensively as Melanie Glossup made 10 saves in the half to finish with 11 in the contest. Redlands added a goal in the 84th minute that made the final score 2-1 in favor of the Bucks.

The ladies will now head to Murray State College on Sunday, September 4th, to take on the Aggies. The Bucks entered the contest 1-1 in region play, while the Aggies are 0-2 after the first two games.
