Bucks Ends Season in Penalty Kicks to Tonkawa

(May 13, 2021) Enid, Oklahoma – The women of Bucks Soccer have been on a roll as of late heading into the Region 2 Tournament on a 3-game winning streak. The Bucks come into the tournament as the 6th seed and were set to face the 3 seeded NOC-Tonkawa Lady Mavericks. In the previous matches in the season, the Lady Mavericks bested the Bucks both games.

Much of the match was controlled by the Bucks. In the first half, the Bucks would fire 10 shots while Briana Salinas (Fort Worth, TX) made 4 saves defensively. In the second half, the match seemed to go the same way. An unlucky break occurred on a shot that hit the cross bar that came close to going in the goal. But, the Bucks found the back of the net in the 56th minute of the match. 2 (Mansfield, TX) flicked a ball on to Remmie Ferla (Corby, England) to make it 1-0 in favor of the Bucks.

With the 1-0 lead, the Bucks would give up a late goal to send the game to overtime tied at 1-1. In overtime, neither team was able to seal the win and sent the game into penalty kicks.

The Bucks and Lady Mavericks went kick for kick through the first four attempts. The Lady Mavs made their fifth kick, but they made the save and the next kick to eliminate the Bucks, 6-4 in penalty kicks.

The loss ends the Bucks season at 5-9-1.
