Bucks Win in Overtime

(May 2, 2021) Poteau, Oklahoma – Nearing the end of the Bucks season, the women are still on the quest to make the 6-team region tournament field. The Bucks played Eastern Oklahoma State at Poteau High School. In the previous meeting, the Bucks and Lady Mountaineers played to double overtime that Eastern won in the final minute of the match.

In a match that was back and forth in the midfield, the Bucks would strike first in the 13th minute. Maradona Vilca (Hickory Creek, TX) played the ball to the middle of the field to Remmie Ferla (Corby, England). Remmie found the back of the net to give the Bucks a 1-0 lead. The match would go back and forth, the Bucks held a 1-0 lead at the half.

Eastern did not back down and tied the match 4 minutes into the second half, but the Bucks did respond. Six minutes later, Remmie Ferla found the back of the net again. This time on an assist by Madison Zamudio (Mansfield, TX). Eastern tied the match at 2-2 in the 61st minute. For the remainder of the half, both teams had chances to try and put the match away, but it went to overtime.

In OT, Eastern possessed the ball, but the Lady Mountaineers were unable capitalize. The Bucks countered and took advantage of a foul. On the indirect kick, Madison Zamudio rolled the ball to Jess Douglas, and Jess ended the match in the 96th minute with a goal to give the Bucks a 3-2 win.

The win gives the Bucks a 3-9 record overall and in region play.
