Bucks Fall in Season Opener

Bucks Fall in Season Opener

(April 2, 2021) Ada, Oklahoma – After going without soccer in 2020, the NJCAA season has finally arrived as the Rich Mountain Bucks travelled to East Central University to take on the #7 Seminole State Trojans.

In the first 15 minutes of the match, Seminole State would find the back of the net 3 times with goals at the 7-, 13-, and 15-minute marks to take a 3-0 lead early in the match. The Bucks would fight back and push the ball to their offensive end of the field with a corner kick at the 22 minute mark, but Seminole countered with a run of their own. Freshmen keeper, Elizabeth Rochen (Arlington, TX), picked up her first save of her college career to end the Trojan attack in the 23rd minute. From then to the 40th minute, the Trojans controlled the ball and took 7 shots, but only 1 was on goal, and Rochen made the save. But, in the 40th minute, Seminole found the back of the net again with an upper 90 shot to increase the lead to 4-0 heading into the half

In the 2nd half, Seminole added goals at the 65-, 75-, and 85-minute marks to win 7-0 in the season and Region 2 opener. The Bucks recorded 4 shots on the day by Gracie Evans, Remmie Ferla, Maddie Tyler, and Jess Douglas.

The Bucks fall to 0-1-0 on the season and in region play.

The Bucks are back in action on Wednesday, April 7th, at NEO in Miami, OK. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
