Bucks Season Comes to an End

(May 14, 2022) Piedmont, Oklahoma - Coming off a loss in the second round in the Region II Tournament, the Bucks would need to win to keep their season alive. The Bucks would play Western Oklahoma State College this morning for a chance to play again this evening at 6:30 pm. During the season, the Bucks fell to Western 3 out of 4 games in Altus, Oklahoma.

Blaire Gentry (Lockesburg, AR) got the start for the Bucks in the cirlce. Western would take advantage of some errors in the bottom half to plate a couple runs. The Bucks would trail 2-0 until the top of the fourth inning. Madelynn Lacaze (Gladewater, TX) would lead off with a single before Chloe Ray (Fort Smith, AR) hit a RBI triple. Next at-bat, Presleigh Payne (Grapevine, TX) would ground out to the right side to tie the game at 2-2 after four innings.

Western took a 2-run lead in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Bucks bats came alive in the top of the sixth for 3 runs. After a single and a walk, Presleigh Payne singled to center field to plate run. Next at-bat, Blaire Gentry singled to left field to score another. After an out and a single, Kristen McMillan (Winnsboro, TX) hit a RBI single to take the lead, 5-4. The lead would be short lived with a 3-run bottom of the sixth for the Lady Pioneers. 

Trailing 7-5, the Bucks needed 2 runs to extend their season. Jah'Kaiya Woods (Little Rock, AR) led off with a double. After an out, Madelynn Lacaze hit RBI double to right field to put the Bucks within a run, but the Bucks would go down, 7-6. 

The Bucks season ends with a 31-29 record.
