Bucks Drop Tournament Opener

(May 13, 2021) Muskogee, Oklahoma – After playing their way into the Region 2 Tournament in a best of 3 series at NOC-Enid, the Bucks faced the 6th ranked Seminole State Trojans in the opening round Thursday afternoon at Muskogee High School.

The Bucks went down in order in the top of the first inning. Brooke Detommaso (Las Vegas, NV) got the start in the circle for the Bucks. She would surrender 3 runs in the bottom half as Seminole led 3-0 after one.

The Bucks would strand a runner in both the second and third innings. Kristen McMillan (Winnsboro, TX) hit a line drive down the 3rd base line in the second. Leah Wilkins (Van Buren, AR) singled in the third before being advanced on a sac bunt, but she would be stranded to end the top half of the inning. Seminole added 2 more runs to make it 5-0 after three innings.

Gracie Kimbrell (North Little Rock, AR) singled in the fourth before a double play ball ended the top half. In the bottom, Brooke Detommaso would give up back-to-back singles in the bottom half before retiring the Trojans in order to get out of the inning unscathed.

After a scoreless top of the 5th, Detommaso gave up a walk and a single before being chased from the game. Autumn Powell (Mena, AR) came on in relief. Both runs belonging to Detommaso would score. Powell gave up a RBI single that was the winning run. Bucks fall 8-0.

The Bucks play again tomorrow at 11 am against Eastern Oklahoma State.
