Two Bucks Make All-Region 2 Softball Team

(May 13, 2021) Muskogee, Oklahoma - On the opening day of the Region 2 Tournament, the NJCAA Region 2 Softball Committee announce the 1st Team and 2nd Team All-Region Athletes. Bucks Softball had 2 young ladies named as All Region: Madelynn Lacaze (Union Grove, TX) and Gracie Kimbrell (North Little Rock, AR). 

 

Freshmen Madelynn Lacaze was named to the All-Region 1st Team as an outfielder. The left-hander that bats on the right side was a ultility player for the Bucks, having actually played catcher majority of the season and spent time in the outfield. At the time of this article (including 3 post-season games), Madelynn was hitting 0.392 with 19 home runs, 64 RBIs, 54 runs, 12 doubles, and 5 triples on the season in 201 trips to the plate. She had a 0.970 fielding percentage, including 146 put outs and 18 assists in 169 attempts (recording only 5 errors). 

Gracie Kimbrell is a sophomore in the classroom (freshmen on the field) that was named to the All-Region 2nd Team as an infielder. Being the Bucks ace in the circle this season, Gracie pitched 137.2 innings with 98 strikeouts, 12 walks, and an ERA of 6.559. She had an overall pitching record of 11 wins and 17 losses. At the plate, she sported a team high 0.497 average with 11 home runs, 52 RBIs, 39 runs, 16 doubles, and 3 triples on the season in 179 trips to the plate. In the field, Gracie had a 0.966 fielding percentage, including 78 put outs, 34 assists, 5 double plays, and only 4 errors in 116 touches. 

 

Head Coach Tracy Nealy couldn't be more proud of his athletes. "Madelynn and Gracie are competitors. Both showed up every day to get better and were leaders on and off the field for our young team. I'm extremely proud of the foundation these ladies have laid for the future of Bucks Softball. We are excited to have Madelynn back for a second year, and appreciate everything Gracie has done in her only year as a Buck."
