Bucks Swept by #11 Seminole State

(April 8, 2021) Mena, Arkansas – After a long Easter break, the Bucks were back on the diamond to continue their Region 2 schedule. The Bucks and #11 Seminole State College squared off this afternoon the Cummings-Cecil Field. The Bucks would fall in both games to bring their record to 13-19 on the season and 3-7 in region play.

Game 1

With Gracie Kimbrell (North Little Rock, AR) in the circle, Seminole would plate 3 runs on 3 Bucks errors in the top half. In the bottom of the 1st, the Bucks went in order as the Lady Trojans led 3-0. In the 2nd, Kimbrell put up a zero on the scoreboard, but the Bucks would strikeout and get thrown on the base paths to end the inning. Bucks trailed 3-0 after 2 innings.

Gracie Kimbrell stranded a couple of Lady Trojans in the top of the 3rd, but the Bucks would go in order to end the 3rd inning. In the top of the 4th, Seminole added a run on a RBI triple with 2 outs to lead 4-0. Maggie Lilly (Mt. Pleasant, TX) reached on a 1 out single to right field, but she would be stranded as the Lady Trojans lead 4-0 after 4 innings.

In the top of the 5th, the Trojans added 3 runs off a 3-run bomb to left centerfield. The Bucks went in order. With the Lady Trojans holding a 7-0 lead, Kimbrell was chased from the game in the top of the 6th with no outs and runners on 1st and 2nd. Brooke Detommaso (Las Vegas, NV) came on in relief. Seminole would add a run to make it 8-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th. The Bucks couldn't get a base runner and fall 8-0 in 6 innings.

Gracie Kimbrell (6-10) threw 5 innings, giving up 8 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits. She would strike out 2 and walk 3. In the relief, Brooke Detommaso threw 1 inning, giving up 0 run on 0 hits and walked 1.

Game 2

Autumn Powell (Mena, AR) got the start in the circle and surrendered 5 runs in the top of the 1st. The Bucks went in order in the bottom half. Seminole led 5-0 after an inning. In the next inning, Seminole added 4 more runs. In the bottom half, Maddi Miles (Jonesboro, AR) singled but was picked off on the base path during the next at-bat. Leah Wilkins (Van Buren, AR) singled, but a strikeout ended the inning. Seminole leads 9-0 after 2.

In the 3rd inning, Powell gave up a run as Seminole increased their lead to 10-0. With 2 outs in the bottom half, Madelynn Lacaze (Union Grove, TX) would double to centerfield followed by a single by Maggie Lilly, but a strikeout ended the Bucks threat. Seminole leads 10-0.

In the top of the 4th, Powell would surrender a run before being chased with no outs and 2 runners on. Hannah Hunter (Malvern, AR) came on to pitch. She would give up a 3-run homer to the first hitter she faced. She would strand a couple Seminole runners to end to the top half. The Bucks went in order to end the 4th inning with Seminole leading 14-0.

Hunter gave up a 2 out double, but she got a pop up to end the inning with no damage, but the Bucks went down in order to end the game.

In the loss, Autumn Powell (5-3) pitched 3 innings, giving up 13 runs (11 earned) on 12 hits. Hannah Hunter pitched 2.0 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 2 and walked 1.

The Bucks play again at home on Saturday against NEO.
