Bucks Sweep North Arkansas

Harrison, AR (February 2, 2021) – The Bucks and Pioneers played the second of the scheduled double header. The Bucks would use a 9-run 5th inning to run-rule the Pioneers, 16-6, after 5 innings.

In the top half of the 1st, the Bucks picked up where they left off scoring 4 runs. Madelynn Lacaze (Union Grove, TX) got it going with a RBI double that scored Mackenzie Person (Bonham, TX). Lacaze advanced on a passed ball and was scored on a fielder's choice during Gracie Kimbrell's at-bat. Emily Everitt later hit a 2 RBI single that scored Kristen McMillan (Winnsboro, TX) and Ashlee Gurley (Logansport, LA). However, the lead was short lived as the Pioneers got all 4 runs back on starting pitcher Hannah Hunter (Malvern, AR). After 1, the game was tied 4-4.

The Bucks answered back in the 2nd inning. After a Madelynn Lacaze single (Maggie Lilly out at home on the play), she advanced to 3rd and scored on a Gracie Kimbrell (North Little Rock, AR) double. McMillan would score Kimbrell on a single, but she was thrown out at 2nd base trying to advance on the throw. The Pioneers went in order. Bucks lead 6-4.

In the 3rd inning, the Bucks bats were quiet, and the Pioneers picked up a run. Autumn Powell (Mena, AR) came on to pitch for Hunter. The Bucks got out of the inning only giving up a run. In the top of the 4th, the Bucks would pick up a run. Mackenzie Person hit the first homerun in Bucks history to increase the lead to 7-5.

The Bucks came alive in the top of the 5th inning scoring 9 runs. After an Emily Everitt double, Leah Wilkins (Van Buren, AR) pinch hit and hit a RBI double. Wilkins stole third and Person reached on a single. Wilkins plated a run for the Bucks on Maggie Lilly's sac fly. Lacaze would reach on a error that plated Person. Gracie Kimbrell would single and score Lacaze from 2nd. This setup Kristen McMillan's first homerun of the season scoring 2 runs. Megan Czinder (League City, TX) and Autumn Powell would single that setup Jasmine Cooks (Center, TX) pinch hit 3-run homerun. The Pioneers got 1 run back on a homerun, but Powell shut the door in the bottom of the 5th to end the game. Bucks win 16-6.

The Bucks will be back in action on Thursday, February 4th, for their home opener verses SAU Tech. The doubleheader is scheduled for 1 pm and 3 pm.
