Bucks Win a Pair; Split Season Series with ASUMH

(April 27, 2024) Millington, Tennessee - Coming off a season series win over South Arkansas last week, the Bucks had a very important Friday/Saturday region series this weekend with ASU Mountain Home. Entering the series, ASUMH had a one game lead on the Bucks for first place in the East Division Standings of NJCAA Region 2. 

The Bucks would take both games on Friday evening at USA Stadium, before falling in the series finale on Saturday. With the pair of wins, the Bucks and Trailblazers are now tied in the region at 20-7. The Bucks will play a 3-game series next week against SAU Tech, while ASUMH will play South Arkansas. 

In the three games, the Bucks scored 26 runs on 36 total hits, including 6 extra base hits. None of the hits were bigger than Dylan Kight's (Marion, AR) grand slam in the bottom of the first inning of the first game of the series. Jack Bilski (La Porte, TX) recorded a double and a triple in the series, along with 7 total hits. The men 

The men also reached base 29 times via walks (21) and hit-by-pitches (8). 

On the mound, Camden Farmer (Paragould, AR) and Robert Cheney (Texarkana, TX) picked up wins in their relief appearances. Starting pitcher Clint Lafferty (Seguin, TX) recorded 9 strikeouts in the no-decision in his start. The Bucks totaled 24 strikeouts, while walking 8 hitter, but hit 13 hitters on the weekend. 

Defensively, no plays were bigger than Ethan Perry (Benton, AR) recording a pair of assists in the 4-3 win in Game Two. He would throw out a pair of runners at the plate from right field to hold off the Trailblazers. 

Now, the men return home for their last mid-week contest on Tuesday against Southeast Arkansas before hosting SAU Tech for a single 9-inning contest on Thursday at Union Bank Field. The series will conclude on Saturday in Camden, AR.
