Baseball Clinches #1 Seed; Wins Series against Enid

(May 1, 2022) Enid, Oklahoma – The 14th ranked Bucks split on Thursday afternoon against NOC-Enid at Union Bank Field and were making the trip to David Allen Memorial Ballpark this afternoon to conclude the series. David Allen is home to the Region II Tournament on May 12th – 15th and to the NJCAA DII Baseball World Series later this month. With other region series being concluded this weekend, the Bucks need one win to solidify the #1 seed in the upcoming region tournament.

GAME ONE

Jackson Wells (Rogers, AR) got the start on the bump for the Bucks, he would go the distance, pitching all 5.0 innings. He would give up 3 runs in the bottom of the second innings, but he would strike out 4 hitters and only walked a pair. Wells (7-1) picked up his seventh win of the season on the mound.

The Bucks would score runs in every inning except the top of the second inning in the 13-3 run-rule win, highlighted by an 8-run top of the fifth inning. The Bucks scored 13 runs on 15 hits. Chase Webb (El Dorado, AR) went 3 for 4 on the day with 4 RBIs and a pair of doubles. Cole Clark (Clarksville, AR) was also 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs in the game with a double.

The win solidified the Bucks getting the #1 seed in the upcoming Region II Tournament in two weeks. The Bucks would go for the series win in game four of the series.

GAME TWO

Recent Arkansas State commit James McCormick (Benton, AR) got the start in game two. He would pitch 5.0 innings, striking out 4 and walking a pair in the outing. The lefty gave up 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. McCormick (2-0) picked up his second win of his shortened season.

Offensively, the Bucks scored six of the nine innings, scoring 12 runs on 15 hits in the contest. The Bucks were paced by Luke Rice (Scott, AR) going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, 2 doubles, 3 runs, and a pair of walks. Wesley Featherston (Hope, AR) and Daniel Taylor (Rogers, AR) both had 2 RBIs on the day in the 12-3 win.

The win gave the Bucks the series win over NOC-Enid. The boys finish up their regular season this coming week with a series with Murray State College. The first two games will be played on Wednesday at Union Bank Field.
