Fontenot Pitches Complete Game Shutout; Baseball Splits with Enid

(April 28, 2022) Mena, Arkansas – Coming off a region series sweep last week of South Arkansas, the Bucks are at the top of the Region II Standings, holding a 5-game lead over Western Oklahoma. In the last DII Baseball Poll, the Bucks were ranked #14 in the NJCAA. This week, the Bucks were playing NOC-Enid in a four-game series. The first two at Union Bank Field this afternoon.

GAME ONE

The first game of the series as a pitching duel that belonged to Drake Fontenot (Bossier City, LA). The right hander pitched a complete game shutout (7.0 innings), giving up no runs on 4 hits. Fontenot (6-2) struck out six and walked a pair to pick up his sixth win of the season.

The Bucks pushed across their runs in the bottom of the third. The bases were loaded for Luke Rice (Scott, AR), and he continued his hot streak with a RBI single to right field. Next at-bat, Wesley Featherston (Hope, AR) grounded out to the right side that plated a run to make it 2-0, which would be the final score.
