Baseball Run Rules Arkansas Baptist

(February 10, 2022) Little Rock, AR – Coming off a loss against Seminole State on Tuesday, the Bucks look to rebound and pickup a series win this weekend against NAIA foe, Arkansas Baptist College. The Bucks conclude the series on Saturday at home with a double header at Union Bank Field at Lee McMillan Park.

Looking to bounce back after the loss, the Bucks would control it from the start with a 4-run first inning. After a single and hit by pitch, North Little Rock graduate, Luke Rice would hit a 2-RBI triple to break open the scoring. Wesley Featherston (Hope, AR) walked and stole second base before Mason Reynolds (Fort Worth, TX) hit a RBI single to right field to make it 4-0.

After a scoreless bottom half, the Bucks added to their lead with a 3-run top of the second. A double and two hit by pitches loaded the bases for Little Rock native Eli Garrison, and he would hit a sacrifice fly to score a run. Rice then reached on an error to plate another Bucks run. With 2 outs, Mason Reynolds picked up a RBI the easy way, getting hit by a pitch to make it 7-0.

The Buffaloes scored a run in the bottom of the second before the Bucks would tack on a run in each of the next three innings, before Arkansas Baptist added another run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-2 after five.

In the top of the sixth, the Bucks added 2 more runs. Back to back walks put two on for Luke Rice with 2 outs, and he would single to left field to plate both runs. The Bucks repeated the 2-run inning in the top of the seventh. Bases were loaded for Isaac Price (Siloam Springs, AR), and he picked up 2 RBIs to make the final score of 14-2.

Grant Shankle (Van Buren, AR) (1-0) got the nod on the bump this afternoon and made it count with a win. He would pitch 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. Grant would strikeout 9 on the day and only walked 1 hitter. Ike Pelts (Lamar, AR) and Jackson Wilson (Palestine, AR) both pitched an inning a piece.

The series concludes on Saturday in Mena. First pitch on is scheduled for noon.
