Bucks Late Rally Not Enough, Fall to Dragons 14-12

January 30th (Paris, TX) – The Bucks were back on the diamond on Saturday for a doubleheader with Paris Junior College at Chisum High School due to some morning rain coming through the area. The weather played a role for both teams.  

It did not take the Bucks long to pickup where they left off from the night before by scoring 2 runs in the first inning. With 2 outs, Daegan Covington (Taylor, AR) walked and setup the first homerun in school history by Luke Rice (Scott, AR). However, the lead would be short lived as the Dragons picked up 3 runs of their own in the bottom half to lead 3-2. Cason Brigham (Genoa, AR) was the Bucks' starting pitcher.

The Bucks would get shutout in the top half of the 2nd, while the Dragons picked up 2 more runs to increase their lead, 5-2. Chase Webb (El Dorado, AR) picked up his first hit of his career and advanced to second on a passed ball. With 2 outs, Dan Taylor (Rogers, AR) would score Webb on a RBI single. The Dragons would get the run back and lead 6-3 after 3 innings. Jim Strider (Mountain Home, AR) came on the pitch to begin the 3rd inning in relief. The 4th inning was similar to the 3rd. Both teams would trade runs once again. Adam Quinn (Texarkana, TX) walked and was drove in by Southern Arkansas transfer Rylee Huie's (Pottsville, AR) double.

The Bucks would come alive in the top half of the 5th. After Covington singled, PJC made a pitching change. Rice would also single and both advanced on a wild pitch before Taylor walked. Adam Quinn would pick up a sacrifice fly scoring Covington. Rylee Huie tripled down the right field line scoring Rice and Taylor to knot the score at 7-7. The Dragons would once again answer the bell with a 3 run and a 2 run homerun, chasing Strider from the game. Cooper Perry (Avinger, TX) would come on in relief and on one pitch, got out of the inning. Dragons led 12-7.

The Bucks would get a run back in the 6th inning on a RBI double by Dan Taylor that scored Daegan Covington. But, the Dragons picked up a couple of a RBI singles in the bottom half with 2 outs to increase their lead to 14-8 after 6.

In the top of the 7th, Adam Quinn and Mason Reynolds would single. Quinn stole 3rd and then scored on a wild pitch. Back-to-back walks by Tristan Doucet (Lake Author, LA) and Daegan Covington. Luke Rice would single and score Reynolds. Dan Taylor walked scoring Doucet. Luke Hindman (Sherwood, AR) would pinch hit and walk to score Covington. The Bucks rally would end with Quinn grounding out on a fielders choice. Dragon's would survive, 14-12.

The Bucks fought hard, but came up short. However, the Bucks and Dragon play again in 30 minutes to decide the series at Chisum High School in Paris.
