Strydom Qualifies for Nationals in the 800

(May 9, 2025) Fayetteville, Arkansas - After a week off due to graduation, the Bucks took their finals this week and then headed to the University of Arkansas for the Arkansas Twilight. This is the last regular season meet for the ladies before heading to Nationals next week in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Sharon Strydom (Cape Town, South Africa) needed her best race of the season to qualify for Nationals, and the sophomore did just that in the 800 meter run. She would finish 17th overall in the meet, but more importantly, she ran a 2:17.47 that was good enough to qualify for Nationals. She needed a 2:19 in the two lap race. She now holds the school record in both the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run.

Darcy Vineyard (Claremore, OK) was looking to fine tune her race in the 3000 meter steeplechase at Arkansas. She would finish 6th overall with a time of 11:49.72. She will compete again next week in Hutchinson.

Avery Carter (Siloam Springs, AR) ran a personal best in the 800 meter run in her last race as a Buck. Carter graduated after a year at UARM and ran a 2:42.59.

The ladies will compete again next week in the first National Meet in school history. All coverage will be provided on Bucks Athletics social media accounts and www.bucksathletics.com.
