Vineyard Qualifies for Nationals in 3000M Steeplechase

(March 20, 2025) Arkadelphia, Arkansas - After a few weeks off, the ladies wanted to get a race in before Spring Break. Originally, the Bucks were supposed to travel to the University of Central Arkansas, but Coach Shores made the switch to Ouachita Baptist for the Ouachita Invitational.

The decision turned out to be a good one in favor of Darcy Vineyard (Claremore, OK). She ran in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase this afternoon and would qualify for the National Championship with a time of 11:55.45. The qualifying time for Nationals was 12:00.85. She would finish 3rd overall in the race at Ouachita. She will now run at the National Championship May 15th-17th in Hutchinson, Kansas. This was her first collegiate 3000m steeplechase, but she had previously ran the race in high school.

In the 400 meter dash, Sharon Strydom (Capetown, South Africa) would finish 6th overall out of 11 runners with a time of 1:01.07, while Jocelyn Hernandez (Mena, AR) finished 11th with a time of 1:12.79.

To finish the day, Avery Carter (Siloam Springs, AR) ran in the 800 meter run and finished with a time of 2:45.68. The time was good enough for 22nd overall on the day.

The Bucks will now take Spring Break off and will return to action at the Bryan Phillips Open on April 5th. The meet will be hosted by Harding University.
