Enid Shuts Out Women's Soccer

Enid Shuts Out Women's Soccer

(September 13, 2023) Enid, Oklahoma - After a pair of wins in a row, the ladies made the long trip to Northern Oklahoma College - Enid. NOC moved their soccer programs from Tonkawa to Enid, with the new addition of the Advance Soccer Complex. The complex host the Region II Tournament at the end of October. Last season, the ladies dropped a pair of matches against the Mavericks, now turned Jets.

After a 5 ½ hour bus drive, the UARM players were obviously sluggish and played with heavy legs. As a result, the Bucks were pushed back into their own half of the field only able to muster a few counter attack situations, which they could not take full advantage of. It was hoped the half time break would enable the players to reenergize but sadly they couldn't find any spark. The second half began in much the same way as the first half as UARM gave away numerous needless corner kicks from mistakes, and it was from one of these corner kicks that Enid got their go ahead goal. The UARM defense failed to deal with the high ball, and Enid scrambled it over the line. UARM just couldn't push for an equalizer, and the last 20 minutes of the game just fizzled out until the last minute when Enid was allowed to shoot from 20 yards for their second goal to make the final score of 2-0.

Coach Sherry stated, "The last goal just summed up our day.  We didn't have the energy to close down the shooter allowing her a free shot.  The long bus ride took so much out of the players that the game was almost a non starter for us."
