Ladies Shutout Crowder on Sophomore Day

Ladies Shutout Crowder on Sophomore Day

(October 9, 2022) Mena, Arkansas – Coming off the toughest stretch of the season, the Bucks returned home on Sunday afternoon for a matchup with Crowder College. The Roughriders are playing in the Region 2 Composite Schedule this season, but the match is a non-conference game for the Bucks. It was Sophomore Day for the Bucks with one home game remaining for the season. Earlier this season, the Bucks beat the Roughriders 2-1.

The Bucks wanted to start fast and would. After a Bucks goal kick, the ladies took the ball down the field and got a corner kick. Brinkley Williams (Alvarado, TX) took the corner and found the head of Micaela Nunes (Johannesburg, South Africa). The header then found the feet of Abbie Sunners (Liverpool, England) for the goal at the beginning of the 4th minute. The Bucks maintained possession for much of the rest of the half and fought off just a few runs from the Roughriders. In the half, the Bucks had 6 corner kicks in the half and held the lead 1-0.

The first half went like the first in the fact that the Bucks maintained possession and kept getting opportunities at the goal. The Roughriders would make a few runs, but the Bucks kept the ball on their side of the field. In the 82nd minute, Micaela Nunes found the back of the net on a great pass from Brisa Aguilar (Dallas, TX) to make it 2-0 in favor of the Bucks, which would be the final score.

The Bucks have the week off and play again on Sunday, October 16th, at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, OK.
