Women's Soccer Picks Up Win at Crowder

Women's Soccer Picks Up Win at Crowder

(September 11, 2022) Neosho, Missouri – The ladies of Bucks Soccer were coming off a rough week with a pair of region losses and were looking to get back on track. Beginning today, the Bucks have a week off from region play with games at Crowder College and Neosho County Community College. Crowder College is playing in the Region II Composite Schedule, but they are not in the region. So, the matches do not count toward the standings that decide the seeding for the region tournament in October. The Bucks enter the match 1-4 overall and 1-3 in Region II.

The Bucks squad is a little depleted, dealing with the injury bug. The match would go into halftime tied at 0-0. The ladies fired off 14 shots in the half but only 3 were on target. The Bucks got 1 corner kick in the half as well. Defensively, the Roughriders fired no shots on frame, and the Bucks defense kept a clean sheet on the afternoon in the first 45 minutes.

The Bucks offense came to live in the second half. The duo of Kenya Martinez (De Queen, AR) and Morgan Johnson (Rowlett, TX) scored two goals for the Bucks. Both goals came just over 7 minutes from one another. Johnson assisted Martinez in her goal, while Micaela Nunes (Johannesburg, South Africa) played a cross in front of the goal and Johnson headed the ball into the back of the net. The Roughriders added a goal in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1, which would be in the final score. The Bucks are using keeper by committee. Jess Douglas (Gateshead, England) played the first half, and Kate Duncan (Bauxite, AR) was in the goal in the second half, recording 2 saves.

The Bucks next match is on Wednesday, September 14th, in Chanute, Kansas against Neosho County Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm.
