Bucks Shutout Carl Albert in SW Plains District Tournament

(May 7, 2025) Tishomingo, Oklahoma - After finishing the regular season as the #2 seed in Region 2, the ladies headed to southern Oklahoma for the Southwest Plains District Tournament. The tournament was slated to be played in Ardmore, but due to rain, the first round was moved to Murray State College. The tournament will move back to Ardmore on Thursday. The Bucks took on Carl Albert State College in the opening round.

The ladies took care of business by scoring 6 runs through their first three inninngs to win 6-0 over the Lady Vikings. It marks the Bucks fifth win this season against Carl Albert.

It was a 4-run first inning that busted it open for the Bucks. Emma Reynolds (Cayuga, TX) got it started with a RBI double in the right centerfield gap. She would advance on an error before Brenli Baker (Enid, OK) scored her on a RBI single. After another single, the Bucks then traded a run for an out on a first and third situation. Next at-bat, Mallory Cheek (Lumberton, TX) stayed hot with a solo bomb over the left centerfield fence to make it 4-0.

In the second inning, Reynolds hit a 2-out RBI single to centerfield. That was followed by a sac bunt by Emily Stout (Vilonia, AR) in the bottom of the third inning.

The runs were all that Hayden White (Red Oak, OK) needed in the circle. She didn't give up her first hit until the top of the fifth inning and cruised to a win. White (9-2) gave up only 2 hits on the day and struck out a pair in 7.0 innings of work.

The ladies will now wait and play the winner of the 6:30 pm game this afternoon between #3 National Park and #6 ASU-Newport tomorrow at 4 pm in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
