
(May 4, 2025) Mena, Arkansas - Coming off a region series win on Thursday against National Park College, the ladies concluded their series with Western Oklahoma State this afternoon at Cummings-Cecil Field. The doubleheader had playoff implications, as the Bucks needed to win one game to solidify their #2 seed in the Region 2 & District Tournament this coming week in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
The ladies took care of business with a pair of wins over Western Oklahoma: 5-4 and 7-5. The wins also gave the Bucks the region series win. The ladies won all but one region series this season and finished the regular season with a 42-13 overall record.
Six sophomores played their last games at Cummings-Cecil Field. They will leave UARM as the winningest sophomore class. The ladies currently have 77 wins between the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the region tournament coming up this week.
The Bucks racked up 21 hits on the afternoon to score their 12 runs. In the first game, Emma Reynolds (Cayuga, TX) hit one of the ladies' three triples on the day to walk it off for the Bucks. Not only did it extend her career triples record, but she broke her own record of 10 in a season with her 11th in 2025. Linley Collins (Whitesboro, OK) hit a pair of triples in the doubleheader with 3 runs scored.
Mallory Cheek (Lumberton, TX) did the most damage with a 2-run home in the bottom of the sixth in the first game. She also recorded a double with 2 more RBIs on the afternoon. A trio of Bucks drove in a pair of runs: Jaliyah Simmons (Muskogee, OK), Ashlen VanMeter (Brock, TX), and Reynolds. Kate Daigle (Rayne, LA) also drove in a run on a safety squeeze up the first base line.
In the circle, Holly Raney (Mayflower, AR) and Addisyn Wright (Buffalo Valley, OK) both got complete game wins for their 12th wins of the season. Raney (12-4) gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, while Wright (12-5) gave up 5 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits. They combined for 5 strikeouts in the doubleheader.
The Bucks will now turn their attention to the Region 2 & District Tournament next week in Ardmore, OK. The tournament is May 7th-10th at Regional Park. The ladies are the #2 seed and will take on Carl Albert State College at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, May 7th.
