#19 Softball Shuts Out North Arkansas; Sweeps Season Series

(April 23, 2025) Harrison, Arkansas - After winning a pair of road games yesterday, the ladies continued their road stand this afternoon against region foe, North Arkansas. Earlier this season, the Bucks took down the Lady Pioneers at home and were going for the series sweep this afternoon.

The Bucks did just that with a couple of shutout wins over North Arkansas: 4-0 and 8-0. The wins breaks the school record for wins in a season at 37 and counting in 2025. More importantly, the Bucks are now 21-3 in region play.

Jaliyah Simmons (Muskogee, OK) led the way offensively with 5 hits on the day. Those 5 hits ties her for the season record of hits at 77 with 8 games remaining. One of the hits was a double, and she drove in a run and scored 3 times to continue to extend her own season records of runs in a season.

Linley Collins (Whitesboro, OK) recorded 3 hits with a double and a pair of runs, while a trio of ladies each recorded 2 hits in the doubleheader: Hayden White (Red Oak, OK), Kate Daigle (Rayne, LA), and Emily Stout (Vilonia, AR). White and Daigle each drove in a pair of runs.

The story of the first game was all about Holly Raney (Mayflower, AR). The sophomore went to work in the circle and had a no hitter going into the seventh inning, but she would surrender a run before getting a double play ball to secure the shutout. Raney (10-4) faced 22 hitters and recorded 8 strikeouts in the complete game shutout.

Lindsey Smyth (Mansfield, TX) got the start in the second game and lasted 6.0 innings. Smyth (5-1) gave up 0 runs on 3 hits with 3 strikouts in the win.

The Bucks will now turn the page and focus on a doubleheader with #2 Murray State that is scheduled for Saturday in Tishomingo, OK.
