#19 Bucks Run-Rule Carl Albert; Sweep Season Series

(April 22, 2025) Poteau, Oklahoma - After getting back on track last week, the Bucks were ranked #19 in the latest NJCAA DII Softball Rankings on Monday. The ladies have a big week of region, road doubleheaders this week that began this afternoon at Carl Albert State College.

The ladies took care of business and run-ruled the Lady Vikings in both games: 14-5 (6-innings) and 9-1 (5-innings). The wins give the Bucks the season sweep over Carl Albert and are now 35-10 overall, 19-3 in region play. The 35 wins ties the school record for wins in a season with 10 games remaining.

The Bucks scored 23 runs on 23 hits on the afternoon. Kyson Vap (Newkirk, OK) led the way with 4 hits with a double, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. She was joined by Emma Reynolds (Cayuga, TX) and Jaliyah Simmons (Muskogee, OK) with 4 hits and 3 RBIs a piece. With the 4 hits this afternoon, Simmons is now inching closer to the season record for hits in a season. She currently has 72 hits, and the record is 77 set by Madelynn Lacaze (2020-2022). 

Mallory Cheek (Lumberton, TX) had 2 of the 5 doubles in the doubleheader with a pair of RBIs. Linley Collins (Whitesboro, OK) continues to be a tough out and plated 4 runs in 9 plate appearances. The ladies also stole 7 bases with Ashlen VanMeter (Brock, TX) leading the way with 2. 

In the circle, Addisyn Wright (Buffalo Valley, OK) continued her winning ways with a complete game, 6.0 innings. Wright (10-3) gave up 5 unearned runs on 7 hits and a pair of strikeouts in Game One. Maggie Pate (Hughes Springs, TX) got the start in Game Two and lasted 2.1 innings with 2 strikeouts. Hayden White (Red Oak, OK) came on in relief and pitched the final 2.2 innings to get her seventh win. White (7-1) gave up no hits, no runs, and struck out a pair in the outing.

The ladies will now turn around and travel to Harrison, AR tomorrow for a region doubleheader with North Arkansas. First pitch is schedule for 2 & 4 pm.
