Bucks Sweep Central Baptist JV

(February 19, 2024) Conway, Arkansas - Coming off a walk-off winner against NEO to get a split on Saturday, the ladies have a busy week that kicked off this afternoon against Central Baptist College's JV squad. This is the Bucks first road date of the season ahead of a weekend trip to Weatherford, Texas this weekend for the Coyote Chillout. In between, the ladies host #9 Seminole State on Wednesday at Cummings-Cecil Field. 

Game One

The ladies used their momentum from the end of the NEO doubleheader and jumped out to an early lead over Central Baptist JV to never look back. It was all Bucks in the 13-3 win. The ladies collected 15 hits, including a double by JJ Bass (Joaquin, TX) and triples (2) by Emma Reynolds (Cayuga, TX) & Lilli Williams (Granbury, TX). Madison Heller (Hughes Springs, TX), Kate Daigle (Rayne, LA), and Riley Lowery (Hughes Springs, TX) also collected multiple hits in the shortened 5-inning contest. Heller (2), Williams (3), and Reynolds (3) drove in multiple runs. 

In the circle, McKenna Bittle (Greer's Ferry, AR) had a no-hitter going through four innings. She would throw 4.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits. Bittle (3-1) struck out 5 in the outing. Reagan Tucker (Waxahachie, TX) threw the final 0.2 innings of the game. 

Game Two

Central Baptist's JV made it a closer ballgame in the second part of the doubleheader. Both teams were held scoreless until the Bucks scored a run in the top of the second and third innings. In the second, JJ Bass hit into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to plate the first run of the game. In the third inning, Lilli Williams hit her second home run of the season to make it 2-0, but the Mustangs wouldn't go away with a fight, plating a run in the bottom half. 

Both teams traded runs again in the fourth inning. The Bucks run came on a sac fly by Madison Heller. With the 3-2 lead, the ladies wanted to seperate themselves from the Mustangs and plated a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Williams scored on a wild pitch before Raielynn Fudge (Hampton, AR) stole home in a first and third situation to make it 5-2. CBC hung around with another run in the bottom half to make it 5-3 after five innings.

The ladies sealed the game in the top of the sixth with their final 2 runs of the game. After a lead off walk, JJ Bass hit a RBI triple to left field before Heller scored her on a sac fly for the game's final run to make the final score of 7-3.

Holly Raney (Mayflower, AR) got the start and lasted 2.1 innings, giving up 1 runs on 3 hits. The right hander struck out 4 and walked a pair in the outing. Kamryn Uher (Prairie Grove, AR) pitched the final 4.1 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. Uher (2-0) struck out a lone hitter and walked a pair in the win. 

The win brings the Bucks record to 7-3 on the early season. The ladies now turn their attention to #9 Seminole State on Wednesday, February 21st, at Cummings-Cecil Field. The doubleheader begins at 1 pm.
