Softball Drops Season Series with Lady Mountaineers

(April 11, 2023) Wilburton, Oklahoma - The ladies are coming off a 9-3 start after the first round robin of Region II play and are heading into the final month of the 2023 season. The Bucks travelled Tuesday afternoon to Eastern Oklahoma State College to conclude their season series with the Lady Mountaineers. Earlier this season, the Bucks split at home with Eastern, an 8-0 loss and an 8-6 win.

On the day, Eastern bested the Bucks 8-0 and 9-1 in a pair of five inning contest. The losses are the fourth in a row for the Bucks and bring their overall season record to 20-14 on the season. 

Doubleheader Highlights:

The Bucks recorded 9 hits on the afternoon by 5 different ladies, including JJ Bass (Joaquin, TX) with 3 hits and Marli Huddleston (Bee Branch) with 2. 

Kylee Ward (Rogers, AR) and Meagan Hopkins (Spring, TX) recorded the ladies only extra base hits on the afternoon with a double each. 

The Bucks lone run came on a passed by that scored JJ Bass.

The ladies surrendered 17 runs on the afternoon but only 12 were earned. The Bucks did only walk a lone hitter in the doubleheader with a hit-by-pitch.

Maddie Muller (Little Elm, TX) extended season strikeout total to 101 with 5 in the first game. 

The Bucks will now look to snap their 4-game skid on Saturday against region foe South Arkansas. First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm at Cummings-Cecil Field.
