Softball Drops Doubleheader at #1 Murray State

(April 6, 2023) Tishomingo, Oklahoma - The ladies were hot going into their last doubleheader of the first round of region play. The only team left on their schedule was the #1 team in the country in NJCAA Division II: Murray State College. The Bucks entered the day 20-10 on the season and 9-1 in Region 2. Murray State was a perfect 34-0 and 8-0 in the region before the doubleheader.

Murray State flexed their muscles and experience, run-ruling the Bucks in 5-innings in both contest: 8-0 and 15-4. The Bucks finish the first trip through the region schedule 9-3 and are sitting in second place behind Murray State.

Today's Highlights

  • The Bucks were held to just one hit in the initial game. The most offensive production of the day was in the top of the fourth inning. The ladies scored 3 runs in the inning.
  • Shiley Cartinez (Many, LA) is back from injury and produced a pair of RBIs on the day with a double. 
  • McKenna Bittle (Greer's Ferry, AR) also produced a RBI double in the inning. 
  • The Bucks other run on the day was a solo home run by Marli Huddleston (Bee Branch, AR) in the top of the third. This was her 9th on the season. 

The ladies will have Easter weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday at Eastern Oklahoma State College. The Bucks next region doubleheader will be Saturday, April 15th, at home verses South Arkansas.
