Bucks Drop a Pair at Home to Eagles

Bucks Drop a Pair at Home to Eagles

February 5, 2023 (Mena, Arkansas) -  After a nasty end to January, the Bucks finally were able to take the field against somebody other than themselves. The ladies hosted Northeast Texas Community College out of Mt. Pleasant, TX. NTCC entered the contest 0-2 on the season.

After dropping Game One 10-0 in five innings, the Bucks showed some signs of life in Game Two, scoring runs in the bottom of the third and sixth innings. Trailing 2-0 in the third, Kirsten Sudderth (Forney, Texas) not only plated the first run of the season, but she did so with the first home run of the season. The 2-run bomb into the visitors bullpen came with no outs in the bottom half of the inning. After a pair of outs and a double, Kylee Ward (Lowell, AR) picked up a RBI on a line drive to right field to give the Bucks the 3-2 lead after three innings.

NTCC scored a run in the fifth and 3 runs in the fifth inning to regain the lead, but the Bucks offense came to life again in the bottom of the sixth innings. With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Abi West (Ida, AR) singled to left field to kickoff the scoring. Next at-bat, the Bucks starting pitcher Maddie Muller (Little Elm, TX) helped her own cause with a bases clearing double to give herself the lead heading into the seventh inning, 7-6.

In the top of the seventh, NTCC regained the lead with a 2-out home run with a runner on first base to go up 8-7. The Bucks had an opportunity with a pair of runners on and 1 out, but a strikeout and pop up ended the game. Maddie Muller took the loss in the ciricle, but she recorded 10 strikeouts in the contest along with going 3 for 4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and 3 RBIs.

The Bucks return to action at home on Tuesday, February 7th, against Bossier Parrish Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
