Bucks Advance to Region 2 Tournament

(May 12, 2021) Enid, Oklahoma – After a split yesterday, the Bucks forced the "if" game this morning at 11 am against NOC-Enid. The Bucks were in a must win situation to move on and keep their season alive.

The Bucks looked to get a fast start and did. Ashton Daniel (Rockwall, TX) led off and was hit by a pitch. Next at-bat, Maggie Lilly (Mt. Pleasant, TX) hit a 2-run homer to right field to give the Bucks an early lead. Not to be out done, Madelynn Lacaze (Union Grove, TX) hit a solo shot to right field, her 7th this season against Enid. After 2 outs, Ashlee Gurley (Logansport, LA) doubled before Kristen McMillan (Winnsboro, TX) hit an RBI single to make it 4-0 after the top of the first.

Hannah Hunter (Malvern, AR) got the start in the circle. She would throw four straight scoreless innings while only giving up 1 hit.

After a three straight scoreless innings, the Bucks plated 2 more runs on one swing of the bat in the top of the fifth. With 2 outs, Maggie Lilly singled to centerfield. Next at-bat, Madelynn Lacaze hit her 5th homer in 2 days to make it 6-0 in favor of the Bucks. In the bottom half, the Lady Jets loaded the bases and cut the Bucks lead to 6-2 after five innings.

The Bucks were held scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings, and Hannah Hunter pitched a scoreless seventh inning to win the game, 6-2.

In her second start in two days, Hannah Hunter pitched a complete game, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 3 hitters.

With the win, the Bucks advance to the Region 2 Tournament tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm in Muskogee, OK against nationally ranked Seminole State College.
