(November 11, 2023) Huntsville, Alabama - Coming off a runner-up finish in the Region II Championship at the end of October, the Bucks headed out for Alabama on Wednesday for the 2023 NJCAA DII National Championship this afternoon at John Hunt Park. This year's teams have only 2 sophomores: Luis Morales (Glenwood, AR) & Emmanuel Cartagena (Sherman, TX)

In the 8K race, there was 291 competitors and 38 teams. The Bucks finished 24th overall in NJCAA Division II. 

Leading the way for the Bucks was Luis Morales. The sophomore finished in 104th place with a time of 27:50.6. Next up for the Bucks is the biggest surprise of the season for Coach Shores: Yermy Gonzalez (Horatio, AR). Gonzalez finished 159th with a time of 29:05.7. Angel Cordero (Springdale, AR) rounded out the top 3 for the Bucks with a time of 29:40.9 to finish 185th. Montana Wesley (Waldron, AR) had his best race of the season and his career with a sub 30 minute 8K. He finished 192nd with a 29:51.7.

207th - Brian Monterroza (Fort Smith, AR) - 30:38.0

210th - Desmond Thompson (Fort Smith, AR) - 30:47.3 - personal best

226th - Tommy Banks (Houston, TX) - 31:24.0

The ladies of Bucks Cross Country ran in the 5K race this afternoon. There was a total of 279 ladies running this afternoon

166th - Karen Campos (Pittsburg, TX) - 22:48.0

236th - Adriana Montiel (De Queen, AR) - 25:08.2

253rd - Jadelynn Wood (Mansfield, AR) - 26:24.0
