Gonzalez Has Personal Best in 1500M at Bryan Phillips Open

(April 6, 2025) Searcy, Arkansas - After their last run before Spring Break, the Bucks had a few weeks off to train to prepare for the Bryan Phillips Invitational this afternoon at Harding University. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, but due to the weather around the state this week, it was pushed to this afternoon. 

Yermy Gonzalez (Horatio, AR) continues to lead the way for the Bucks. He finished 14th overall in the 1500 meter run with a personal record of 4:11.22. There were 45 runners in the 1500 meters this afternoon. He also competed in the 800 meter run, finishing 11th overall with a time of 2:02.33 out of 45 runners.

On the sprinting side of the house, Darryn Weaver (Diabol, TX) finished 14th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.41 out of 25 runners.

The rest of the Bucks finished as follows:

1500 meter run

33rd - Alfred Rodriguez (Dalhart, TX) - 4:33.49

42nd - Noah Burns (Weatherford, TX) - 4:45.70

400 meter run

14th - Desmond Thompson (Fort Smith, AR) - 56.52

800 meter run

29th - Alfred Rodriguez - 2:09.71

36th - Noah Burns - 2:15.44

The Bucks will now have a week of classes before competing on Friday and Saturday in Nacogdoches, TX at the Carl Kight Invitational. The meet is hosted by Stephen F. Austin.
