Men Compete at JD Martin Invite

(January 31, 2025) Norman, Oklahoma - Coming off a Region 2 Runner-Up finish in Cross Country, the men were ready to be joined by their sprinting teammates to kickoff track season at the JD Martin Inviational. The indoor meet was held by the University of Oklahoma. The Bucks competed in the open races in almost all of their events.

The day started for the Bucks in the 1 mile race. Danny Lamas (Dodge City, KS) finished 6th out of 15 runners with a time of 4:57.68 to break the 5 minute mile mark. 

In the 400 meter run, Jequavious Mckenzie (Camden, AR) finished 2nd overall with a time of 52.08, followed by teammate Beau Reed (Moore, OK) with a time of 56.26. Reed's time was good enough for 18th in the race overall. There were 22 runners that competed in 6 heats. 

Alfred Rodriguez (Dalhart, TX) and Yermy Gonzalez (Horatio, AR) would finish 10th and 11th in the 800 meter run with times of 2:07.8 and 2:09.0, respectively.

Out of 34 runners in 12 heats, Darryn Weaver (Diabol, TX) placed 20th with a time of 24.43. 

After the open competition, the wait began for Jequavious Mckenzie. He qualified for the Invite Session in the 60 meter dash. He would finish 20th with a time of 7.24.

The Bucks could be back in action at another indoor race, before turning their attention to the outdoor track on March 1st at Hendrix College in Conway, AR.
