Before starting at Rich Mountain, Kevin Sherry was the head soccer coach at East Mississippi University (NJCAA), Grambling State University (NCAA D1), Louisiana Tech University (NCAA D1), Western Illinois University (NCAA D1), and Graceland University (NAIA). During this period of college coaching in the U.S., Coach Sherry was the lead assistant coach for the Guyana women's national team during CONCACAF FIFA World Cup qualification.

The combined winning percentage of the University programs before Coach Sherry took over as head coach was 30.6%. The combined winning percentage of the programs under his tenure after he had taken charge rose to a 65% winning percentage and included a Conference championship and a Final Four appearance with Graceland University for which he was inducted into their Athletics Wall of Fame.  Coach Sherry's overall college coaching record prior to Rich Mountain was:  229 wins-123 losses-46 ties.

Coach Sherry between 2015-18 coached at Ruston High School in Louisiana with the boys soccer team, helping them to become District Champions & reached a State Championship Final Four for the first time in their history.  

Prior to his coaching career in the U.S., Coach Sherry had an extensive career internationally. Between 1997–2001, Coach Sherry was at Nagoya Gakuin University, as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in Nagoya, Japan. During his time in Japan, Coach Sherry spent two years (1995–1997) with Aichi F.C. Nagoya, as the Junior Youth Boys Soccer Coach. Coach Sherry's first coaching position in Japan was from 1994–1995 with Nagoya Institute of Technology as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in Nagoya, Japan.

Coach Sherry began his coaching career at the high school level in England, UK. From 1987–1992, he attended Burlington Danes High School as a PE Teacher and Head Boys Soccer Coach, in London, UK. During this time here, Coach Sherry was selected to be the West London Schools F.A. of England, U-15 & U-16 select representative teams Head Boys Coach. After leaving England Coach Sherry became the Al Nahda National Schools  Head of Physical Education and Director of Soccer in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

During his tenure as a college soccer coach, he also taken other roles including being an Instructor in Health, Physical Education and Kinesiology. Coach Sherry has a Masters of Science in the Sociology of Sport & Sports Management from Leichester University in the UK.  A Post Graduate Certificate in Education from West London Institute of Higher Education, now Brunel University) in London, UK. Coach Sherry also has a Bachelors of Art Honors Degree in Sociology and Physical Education from Bangor University of North Wales, U.K. 

As a player, Coach Sherry won a National Collegiate Championship with West London Institute in the UK, and was also a semi-professional player in The United Kingdom with Bangor City, and in Hong Kong with Morning Star F.C. In 1980, Coach Sherry represented Great Britain F.I.S.E.C Under 18’S representative soccer team during his time with professional team Notts County as a youth player.

In 2020, Coach Sherry completed a Coursera Certification;  ‘Building Your Leadership Skills’.  And in 2019, in conjunction with the US Soccer Coaches Association, he completed a Diploma titled; ‘The mental game – The coaches' role in developing the player.’  Between 2019-21, Coach Sherry served on the Men’s/Women’s Soccer NCAA Rules Committee helping to shape and form national rules for the sport of collegiate soccer.  

Between 2015–2018, Coach Sherry also performed as a Radio DJ at The Peach 99.3 FM Radio Station in Ruston, Louisiana. Between 2004-2022, Coach Sherry was involved with the National Olympic Development Program coaching with both Iowa and Louisiana ODP state soccer programs, together with a position on the Region III coaching staff.  

In 2023, Coach Sherry's women's team finished with a 9-9 overall record at UARM with Jasmin Bislev Nielsen being named as a NJCAA All-American. His women's team also finished as an NJCAA All-Academic Team. Between both the men's and women's teams, 7 student-athletes finished as NJCAA All-Academic Honorees, including Lucas Bruni Cardosa being named UARM's Academic All Star for 2023-24. 

Kevin is married to Isabel with three dogs Huck, Finn and Becky.
