Panther Pressure Too Much for Bucks

Panther Pressure Too Much for Bucks

(September 14, 2022) Chanute, Kansas - Looking to get things back on track after a road loss at Crowder on Sunday, the Bucks once again were on the road to take on Neosho County Community College in Kansas. This would be the last regular season, non-region match for the Bucks this season besides completing the region composite schedule against Crowder later in October. The Bucks come into the match 1-3-2 on the season, while the Panthers were 4-1 on the season.

The Bucks seemed to be playing on their heels most of the match. The Panthers held possession and pressed the Bucks defense all game long, but the Bucks opened up the scoring in the 33rd minute. After a Neosho foul, Josh Dhillon (Warrington, England) took the free kick and found the head of Bailey Sawyer (Brechin, Scotland) for the goal to make it 1-0. However, the goal seemed to open up the flood gates as the Panthers not only tied the match in the first half but took the lead with goals in the 36th minute and again in the 40th minute to lead 2-1 at the half.

The second half went about the same as the first half. The Panthers continued to press the Bucks and forced turnovers in the midfield that lead to another Panther goal in the 51st minute of the match to extend the lead to 3-1. The Bucks had a few opportunities for the rest of the match, but the match would end in a 3-1 loss.

The Bucks return to region play this Sunday, September 18th, against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. The Bucks sport a 1-1-1 record in Region II, while the Norse are 1-1 on the young season.
