Bucks Tie with University of the Ozarks

(August 22, 2022) Clarksville, Arkansas – After a rough start in Coffeyville last Thursday, the Bucks were eager to return to the field to prepare for their upcoming region opener on Sunday, August 28th. The men travelled to the University of the Ozarks to take on the Eagles in what would be a scrimmage for the NCAA DIII University. The Bucks would count the game as a regular season match.

Last week, the Bucks did not even attempt a shot in the loss to Coffeyville. That changed and changed quickly in the opening five minutes against the Eagles. In the 5th minute, Bailey Sawyer (Brechin, Scotland) found the back of the net on an assist from Yoshua Kibasomba (Memphis, TN) on a free kick. The Bucks would get off a total of 10 shots in the half with 5 being on goal. The Eagles would tie the match at 1-1 at the half. Giving up a goal, Connor Wachtel (Grapevine, TX) recorded 5 saves in the half.

In the second half, the Bucks took just over 10 minutes to take the lead 2-1 on a goal by sophomore Christopher Tarr (Durban, South Africa). Brayden Autry (Aubrey, TX) played the ball across the field to Tarr for the goal. Ozarks would tie the game just a minute later, and the game would remain tied until the Bucks took another lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. Bailey Sawyer played a ball through the box to Yoshua Kibasomba for the Bucks third goal of the match. The Bucks were looking to seal the win, but the Eagles score with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to end the match tied at 3-3.

The Bucks and Eagles did not play any overtime periods.

In the match, the Bucks fired 19 shots with 7 being on goal. Goalkeeper Connor Wachtel recorded 11 saves in his 90 minutes of work.

The men are back in action on Wednesday at home verses Blinn College. The game is scheduled for 11 am and will be played at either Tapley Park or Bob Carver's Bearcat Stadium pending field conditions due to weather this week.
