Bucks Shutout by Mavericks

Bucks Shutout by Mavericks

August 29, 2021 (Tonkawa, Oklahoma) – Coming off their first match of the season, the Rich Mountain Bucks (0-0-1; 0-0-1 in Region 2) looked to pick-up their first win of the season against the 17th ranked NOC-Tonkawa Mavericks.

In a highly contested match, the Bucks and Mavericks went back and forth for the first 6 minutes of the match. In the 7th minute, the Bucks committed a foul just outside the box that allowed the Mavs to score their first goal to lead 1-0 on a free kick.

NOC didn't back down and continued to press. Seven minutes after their first goal, the Mavs found the back of the net again after a corner kick to make it 2-0. The Bucks would look to regain composure and made a couple of runs themselves, but they wouldn't be able to get off a shot attempt. In the 22nd minute, the Mavericks struck again for the 3rd goal before the mid-half water break.

For the second part of the first half, NOC continued to control the match. In the 42nd minute, another NOC corner kick resulted in a goal to make it 4-0 at the half.

NOC picked up where they left off from the first half. In the 52nd minute, the Mavs added their 5th goal of the match. Both teams would go back and forth for over the next 15 minutes of the match. The Bucks were unable to put a shot on frame. In the 70th minute, a Bucks foul in the box results in a successful penalty kick for the Mavs to make it 6-0.

The Bucks would never threaten for the rest of the match and fall 6-0, bring their record to 0-1-1 overall and in Region 2 play.

The Bucks are back in action on Wednesday, September 1st, in Clarksville, AR at the University of the Ozarks. Kickoff is at 4:30 pm.
