Bucks Finish Season as Region Runner-Ups

(May 15, 2021) Enid, Oklahoma – In their second season of NJCAA soccer, the Bucks were looking to defend their 2019 Region 2 Championship. The opponent was the same as the 2019 championship, Rose State College. On the season, Rose State took both matches against the Bucks.

The first half was completely controlled by Rose State College. The Raiders possessed and kept the ball on their end of the pitch. This lead to 2 goals in the half: one in the 14th minute and the other in the 41st minute. This gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead at the half.

The second half seemed to go just as the first half. The Bucks struggled to control the middle of the field, and Rose State continue to maintain possession. Things seemed to turn in the Bucks favor with around 20 minutes left in the match. The Raiders started losing possession, and the Bucks were able to counter. Maurice Theart (Parklands, South Africa) found the right post and deflected the ball into the back of the next at the 74:23 mark to make it 2-1.

After the Bucks goal, Rose State countered and got a couple shots on goal, but Edward Garcia (De Queen, AR) came up big with some saves. The Bucks would counter and had some opportunities, but they were unable to connect after some fouls and a corner opportunity. The Bucks fall 2-1.

The Bucks overall record on the season was 5-9 and finished as Region 2 Runner-Ups.
