Bucks Fall in Final Minute Against Murray

Bucks Fall in Final Minute Against Murray

(April 30, 2021) Mena, Arkansas – Coming off a loss on Wednesday to Rose State, the Bucks looked to get back into the win column against Murray State College. The Bucks fell in the previous meeting 1-0 in overtime.

Both teams made runs in the first half, but most of the half was spent in the midfield. In the 17th minute, Murray State found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead into the half.

In the 2nd half, it was played much of the same as the first. With about 15 minutes left in the match, Murray State broke free on what looked to be a breakaway goal. Jamie Watt (Arbroath, Scotland) came up big…not just with 1 save, but he made 2 saves to prevent the Aggie goal. Around the 12th minute, the Bucks countered an Aggie corner, but they were unsuccessful after a foul. Murray would counter and continued to press in the final third against the Bucks defense.

With 8 minutes left in the match, the Bucks made a run. Trev Lewis (Kitchener, Ontario) played a ball across the front of the goal to draw the Aggie keeper off his line. Cesar Requena (Lima, Peru) made the most of it and found the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1.

The Bucks would make a run in the last few minutes of the match, but Murray State made a counter and took advantage of a Bucks mistake in the midfield and scored with 27 seconds left in the match to take the 2-1 lead and secured the win.
