
(September 5, 2024) Paragould, Arkansas - The long waited start for Livestock Judging at UA Rich Mountain is finally over. The Bucks travelled to Northeast Arkansas for their first official contest on Thursday morning. The contest was a Collegiate Swine Contest that included both Freshmen and Sophomore Junior College Teams. Head Coach Walker Anttila formed his first team after a year of recruiting. He has Livestock Judging students from Arkansas, Texas, and New Mexico.
Overall, the men and women on the Freshmen Team finished fifth overall at the event with a total team score of 2468. There were 3,000 total points possible in the event. For Reasons, the Bucks also finished fifth with a total score of 815 out of 1,000 possible points.
Other teams included Region II schools Northern Oklahoma College, Eastern Oklahoma State College, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Fort Scott Community College rounded out the event.
Kyleigh Stephenson (Elida, NM) finished 20th overall at the event with a score of 510. There was a total of 53 freshmen judgers at the event.
28th - Kaden Ables (Austin, AR) - 505 (Best team Judging score of 344/400)
34th - Laney Brown (Gravette, AR) - 495
41st - Olivia Cooley (De Queen, AR) - 480
43rd - Cadence Swindle (Paragould, AR) - 478 (Best total Reasons score of 170/200)
For the Sophomore Team, the Bucks weren't able to compete as a team but had a pair of competitors. There were a total of 66 sophomores in the event.
55th - Lacy Floyd (Mena, AR) - 485
65th - Alec Smith (Montgomery County, TX)

Now, the Bucks will prepare and travel to Cookeville, Tennessee for the Prof Lidvall Memorial on September 21st.
