Esports Qualifies for Playoffs in Three Games

(November 27, 2023) Mena, Arkansas - In their first season of Esports at UARM, the Bucks have qualified for the playoffs with two of their teams: Overwatch & Mario Kart 4v4 Open. The Bucks will also have a competitor in Smash Bros Open. 

The Bucks had a very successful final week of the season to help their chances in the playoffs.

  • Overwatch 2 picked up a 3-0 win against SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake, NY. 
  • Donevin Tedder got the 3-0 win agianst "Laughinjax" from Herkimer College in Herkimer, NY in Smash Bros Open.
  • Eli Sirmon took home the 4-3 win against "Wisesong" from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA in Mario Kart Tier 2. 

Playoffs

Smash Bros Open

  • Donevin Tedder will begin his playoff run on Tuesday, November 28th. He is seeded 45th in the 64-person single elimination bracket, playing against Penn Highlands Community College's "thegreatalex7998," seeded 20th. The first 4 rounds will all happen that Tuesday, one hour apart. If Tedder continues to win, the last round that day would be starting at 8 pm. The finals would be the next Tuesday, Dec 5th.

Overwatch 2

  • The Overwatch Team is seeded 31st in the 32-single elimination bracket. The Bucks will be playing against Marshalltown Community College's Blue team, 2nd seed, which has only lost a single game this season. Game time will be on Wednesday, November 29th, at  5 p.m., and if the Bucks win, Round 2 of the bracket will start at 6:30 pm, and Round 3 will start at 8 pm.

Mario Kart 4v4 Open

  • The matches will be held on Saturday, December 9th, at 12 pm. 

An update will be provided later this week on Bucks as they compete in the Esports playoffs.
