
(March 7, 2024) Poteau, Oklahoma - After a week off and a schedule change for the weekend, the Bucks headed over the Arkansas-Oklahoma border to take on in-region foe, Carl Albert State College. The Bucks and Vikings are in the same division of Region II and will play a 4-game series to conclude their seasons that will count toward the region standings. Both schools agreed to play a home and home this weekend to make sure both teams were getting games played to prepare for their upcoming Region II schedules.
The Bucks held a 2-0 lead after an inning, but their lead would vanish and never be regained as Carl Albert scored all of their runs in the first three innings of the game to win 8-5 at Mark Pollard Park.
The Bucks scored a pair of runs in the third and another run in the top of the fifth to finish out their scoring on the day. Ethan Miller (Hallsville, TX) hit a 2-run home run in the top of the first to give the Bucks the lead. It was his first home run of his college career. Jack Bilski (La Porte, TX) hit a sac fly in the third, followed by Dylan Gibson (Springdale, AR) reaching on an error. Two innings later, Ian Smith (Bismarck, AR) hit a solo home run to finish the scoring on the day.
On the mound, the Bucks walked 10 hitters on the afternoon that seemed to be the difference. The best outing with by sophomore Camden Farmer (Paragould, AR) he pitched 4.0 innings in relief, striking out a pair. He would allow 0 runs on 6 hits.
Tyler Reed (0-2) took the loss in the start, lasting 1.1 innings. He would give up 5 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits.
The Bucks and Vikings will now meet on Sunday at Union Bank Field for a single 9-inning contest. Game time is TBD as both teams will monitor this weekend's rain forecast.
