
(May 9, 2024) Enid, Oklahoma - Coming off a season series win over SAU Tech, the Bucks entered the Region Tournament as the #1 seed and were matched up with Carl Albert State College. Earlier this season, the Bucks took on the Vikings at home and dropped the mid-week contest 8-6 at Union Bank Field.
The Bucks found themselves down 3-0 after an inning at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. The men kept battling and hung their own 3-spot up on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. With a pair of runners on and 1 out, Trace Watkins (Sheridan, AR) hit a RBI single to centerfield to kick things off. After a walk, Caden Brown (Van Buren, AR) started his day with a 2-RBI single up the middle to tie the contest at 3-3.
The game seemed to find a groove in the middle innings. Starting pitcher Clint Lafferty (Seguin, TX) would last 4.0 innings. Camden Farmer (Paragould, AR) entered the contest on the mound and continued to hold off the Vikings until the seventh inning. The Vikings scored a lone run in the top of the seventh, but the Bucks answered with another 3-spot in the bottom half.
Caden Brown led off the inning with his first home run of the season to left field. With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Trevor Flake (North Little Rock, AR) hit a 2-RBI single to left field to make it 6-4. The Bucks weren't done and would put up 4 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Cody Hayes (Corsicana, TX) hit a RBI single with 1 out. Next at-bat, Ian Smith (Bismarck, AR) scored Hayes on a RBI double. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Brett Justice (Jacksonville, AR) followed with a RBI double. Then, Aiden McGinnis (Jasper, AL) hit a RBI single to right field to make the final score of 10-4.
Camden Farmer (2-2) picked up the win in 5.0 innings of work. The right hander gave up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out a pair.
Offensively, the Bucks pounded out 15 hits against the Vikings, with 5 hits being extra base hits. Caden Brown had the biggest day, going 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, including his solo bomb in the seventh inning.
The men now turn their attention to NOC-Tonkawa in the Region Tournament. The second round matchup will take place Friday, May 10th, at 7 pm at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
