Baseball Run-Rules Twin City PG

(April 23, 2024) Mena, Arkansas - Coming off a season series win over South Arkansas last week, the Bucks returned home for a mid-week contest against Twin City Post Grad out of Texarkana. The Bucks wanted to keep momentum going into a big region series with ASU Mountain Home this weekend.

It was all Bucks in the scheduled 9-inning contest yesterday afternoon at Union Bank Field. The men scored atleast a run in all six innings on offense to win 19-2 in seven innings.

The men scored 19 runs on 18 hits on the day. No day was bigger than leadoff Cody Hayes (Corsicana, TX) and Ethan Perry (Benton, AR). The duo combined to go 7 for 9 with 10 RBIs on the day. Hayes hit his first home run of the season, while Perry recorded a double in the contest.

Besides the 18 hits, the Bucks reached base 8 times on walks and 3 times on hit-by-pitches. Trace Watkins (Sheridan, AR) has now broke the season record of hit-by-pitches. He is also 3 shy of tying the career record at UARM at 30.

On the mound, the Bucks used five pitchers on the day. Layne Sweat (Derby, KS) got the start and went 2.0 innings. Sweat (1-0) picked up the win and struck out 3 hitters in the outing.

The Bucks now turn their attention to ASU Mountain Home. All games of the series will be played at USA Stadium in Millington, TN on Friday and Saturday. Friday will be a doubleheader at 3 pm, while Saturday's single game time is TBD.
