Rice Named First Team All-American

(June 13, 2022) Charlotte, North Carolina - For the first time in school history, Bucks Athletics has their first National Junior College Athletic Association All-American. Luke Rice was named this morning to the NJCAA DII Baseball All-American Team. The left-handed hitter was named to the First Team as the Designated Hitter. 

The Scott, Arkansas native has been the Bucks clean-up hitter the past two seasons and holds 5 season hitting records and 7 of 9 career hitting records for the Bucks in the first two seasons in school history. He was the everyday first baseman for the Bucks. In the 2022 season, Rice hit for a .444 average with 7 home runs, 75 total hits (19 doubles and 4 triples), 59 runs, and had 63 RBIs. In the field, he committed only 1 error in 276 chances in the 2022 season. For his career (2021-2022 seasons), Rice hit for a .393 average with 20 home runs, 141 hits, 33 doubles, 4 triples, 107 runs, and had 114 RBIs in two seasons with the Bucks. Rice was named to the 2021 First Team All-Region Team as a first baseman and to the 2022 First Team All-Region as a desiginated hitter. 

During the first two seasons of Bucks Baseball, the Bucks finished as the 2021 Plains District Tournament Runner-Ups and finished as the 2022 Region II Regular Season Champions.

Luke is the son of Johnny and Terri Rice and is a graduate of North Little Rock High School. He has signed to play at NCAA Division II Henderson State University next season.
