Four Bucks Named to All-Region Team

(May 12, 2022) Mena, Arkansas – After a 35-win regular season, the Bucks enter tonight's first round matchup with South Arkansas as the #1 seed in the Plains District Tournament and as the 9th ranked team in DII Baseball in the NJCAA. After the Region II coaches meeting last night, four Bucks were named to the All-Region First and Second Teams.

Chase Webb (1st Team Second Base) – After an injury shortened freshmen campaign, the El Dorado, AR native came out and stayed hot through the 2022 season. The Southern Arkansas University commit hit for a .337 average with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs. He would also steal 7 bases and scored 47 runs on the season. In the field, he recorded a .935 fielding percentage and was a part of 10 double plays.

Luke Rice (1st Team Designated Hitter) – After a receiving 2021 All-Region 1st Team honors at first base in his freshmen season, the North Little Rock graduate returned to the All-Region Team as the Designated Hitter during his sophomore campaign. The Henderson State University commit hit for a team leading .441 average with 7 home runs and 59 RBIs. He would also score 42 runs, while hitting 17 doubles and 4 triples on the season. The first basemen committed only 1 error in 249 chances this season.  

Jackson Wells (1st Team Pitcher) – The Rogers, AR native is no stranger to receiving accolades. He was named the 2021 Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year during his senior year. The freshmen right hander sports a 7-2 record heading into the tournament. With 12 appearances on the season (11 starts), Wells struck out 63 hitters in 63.1 innings pitched with a 4.26 ERA.

Drake Fontenot (2nd Team Pitcher) – After an injury delayed the start to his 2021 season, the Delta State commit came on strong and was named to the 2021 Plains District All-Tournament Team last season. The right hander from Bossier City, LA is 7-2 this season in 13 starts. He recorded 70 strikeouts in 69.1 innings with a 4.67 ERA heading into the tournament.
