Bucks Run Rule Central Baptist

(March 1st, 2021) Mena, Arkansas – After coming off of a 2 and 0 weekend in the Babe Howard Classic in Millington, TN, the Bucks would host Central Baptist College's Developmental Team on Monday for a mid-week doubleheader. The Bucks took both games, 11-0 and 16-1.

Game 1

Getting the start in game 1, Randy Little Jr. (Pine Bluff, AR) threw a complete game shutout. Picking up his first win, Little (1-0) gave up 5 hits while striking out 6 batters and walking 2.

The Bucks would do all of their damage on the scoreboard in the second and fourth innings. With 2 outs and Dugan Jones, Jr. (Rose Bud, AR) and Eli Garrison (North Little Rock, AR) reaching on errors, Mason Reynolds (Fort Worth, TX) would single to score Jones. Garrison advanced to 3rd and Reynolds was able to take 2nd on the throw. Next at-bat, Chase Webb (El Dorado, AR) would plate both runners with a ground ball to left field. Bucks led 3-0 after 2 innings.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Adam Quinn (Texarkana, TX) led off with a single before Garrison's walk. Reynolds would bunt for a base hit to load the bases for Webb. Chase would pickup his third RBI of the day, while reaching on a Mustangs' error. Clarksville's Cole Clark would plate 2 more runs for the Bucks on a single to right field, Garrison and Reynolds scored. In the next at-bat, with runners at second and third, Wesley Featherston (Hope, AR) would hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Webb. Luke Rice (Scott, AR) would plate Clark on a line drive single to right centerfield. With 2 outs, Jones would single to put runners on first and second to setup Adam Quinn's 2 RBI triple. Quinn would end the game's scoring on a throw into the dugout. The run made the final score of 11-0.

Game 2

In game 2, Cooper Perry (Avinger, TX) (1-0) got the start on the mound and picked up his first win of the season. He would throw a complete game with 5 innings pitch. He gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.

The Bucks would score in every inning except the third inning. In the bottom of the 1st, Andrew Almendarez (Tomball, TX) would get it started with a single and would score on Preston Lee's (Maumelle, AR) RBI triple. A balk on the CBC pitcher would plate Lee. Back-to-back walks led to a double steal and an error on the CBC catcher to plate Tristan Doucet (Lake Arthur, LA). Brice Cagle (Sherwood, AR) would steal 3rd base and scored on a wild pitch. Two more Bucks walks led to Will Dolan (Sugar Land, TX) doubling and scoring Barrett Sparks (North Little Rock, AR) to end the scoring in the bottom of the 1st. Bucks lead 5-0.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd, Isaac Price (Siloam Springs, AR) singled and scored on Jackson Baker's (Sherwood, AR) double to left field. Back-to-back walks to load the bases was followed by Will Dolan's single that plated Baker and Sparks. Bucks increased their lead to 8-0.

After a scoreless 3rd inning, the Mustangs put their first run on the board in the top half of the fourth. But, the Bucks responded and put up 8 runs in the bottom half. After a walk, Bear Sparks would double to score Baker. Sparks would score on the next at-bat by Ike Pelts (Lamar, AR). Pelts singled to left field. The Bucks loaded the bases on a walk and hit by pitch and would score twice on consecutive walks. Price would reach on an error by the Mustangs' centerfielder to score Preston Lee. With 2 outs, Baker would double off the left field wall to plate another Bucks run. Price and Baker would end the day's scoring on a Sparks fly ball to right field. Cooper Perry put the Mustangs down in order to win the game, 16-1.

The Bucks play again tomorrow at Carl Albert State College in Poteau, OK at 2 pm.
