24 Bucks Named to 2020-21 NJCAA All-Academic Teams; Softball Finishes as All-Academic Team

Charlotte, North Carolina – The NJCAA National Office of Communication has released the 2020-2021 All-Academic Team members in all sports for outstanding academic achievement. Bucks Athletics had 24 athletes named as honorees: Men's and Women's Cross Country had 1 apiece, 2 Women's Soccer, 5 Men's Soccer, 10 Softball, and 5 Baseball athletes. 

To be nominated and awarded as a NJCAA All-Academic Team Honoree, a student-athlete must have completed two full-time semesters (24 credit hours or more) and participated in a least one season at the varsity level in his or her sport. Along with the previous requirements, a student must finish the academic year with at least a 3.6 grade-point average or higher on a 4.00 scale. The NJCAA breaks down the honorees into the following categories:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80 to 3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60 to 3.79 GPA

The following Bucks athletes were named as NJCAA All-Academic Honorees:

    • Aleco Savvas (Cape Town, South Africa) - Men's Soccer
    • Lauren Buss (Clarksville, AR) - Softball
    • Mackenzie Person (Bonham, TX) - Softball
    • Maggie Lilly (Mt. Pleasant, TX) - Softball
    • James McCormick (Benton, AR) - Baseball    
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80 to 3.99 GPA:
    • Briana Salinas (Fort Worth, TX) - Women's Soccer
    • Cris Barba (De Queen, AR) - Men's Soccer
    • Ross Wilson (Wishaw, Scotland) - Men's Soccer
    • Brooke Detommaso (Las Vegas, NV) - Softball
    • Maddi Miles (Jonesboro, AR) - Softball
    • Madelynn Lacaze (Union Grove, TX) - Softball
    • Megan Czinder (League City, TX) - Softball
    • Sydney Smith (Siloam Springs, AR) - Softball
    • Cole Clark (Clarksville, AR) - Baseball
    • Grant Shankle (Van Buren, AR) - Baseball
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60 to 3.79 GPA: 
    • Olivia Orr (Bryant, AR) - Women's Cross Country
    • Anthony Sanchez (De Queen, AR) - Men's Cross Country
    • Bailey Tillotson (Sherman, TX) - Women's Soccer
    • Edward Garcia (De Queen, AR) - Men's Soccer
    • Maurice Theart (Parklands, South Africa) - Men's Soccer
    • Ashlee Gurley (Logansport, LA) - Softball
    • Madison Humphry (Murfreesboro, AR) - Softball
    • Isaac Price (Siloam Springs, AR) - Baseball
    • Jace Bray (Rogers, AR) - Baseball

Along with these honors, Bucks Softball had 15 student-athletes finish with a 3.0 GPA or higher to make Bucks Softball the first NJCAA All-Academic Team with a 3.43 team GPA!!
